As she got older she longed for comfort but did not want to compromise  quality or style. She tried a lot of different brands and  nothing fit her style; either it was too masculine, athletic or childish. The foundation and brand of J Marie empire was created. Take a look at the exclusive interview with the rising brand.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : How did the idea for your business come about?

Answer: Growing up you couldn't catch me dead in gym shoes....I LOVED me an heel honey, the more colorful and unique the better!

Well as I got older and my lifestyle changed- I entered corporate America and lived in a metropolitan downtown area- which means a lot of walking from garage structures....and just walking period- you know the urban city landscape,so I started wanting something more comfortable.

I ventured off into various "gym shoes" but nothing fit my style. It was either too masculine, too childish or athletic. So I decided to start my own line that was everything I wanted. Style| Quality| Comfort| Color

Fashion Gxd Magazine : How do you find people to bring into your organization that truly care about the organization the way you do?

Answer: I look for people that have the same problem I once had- and are looking for an alternative to heels. Who would be more passionate than an ACTUAL client that benefits from the very product they are responsible for.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : What three pieces of advice would you give to other children who want to become entrepreneurs?

Answer: Stay true to you. No one can be YOU better than you. That's the value proposition you bring to any table you sit at. Never give up. When you're starting a business from scratch it sometimes takes time before you see a profit. Always improve yourself and whatever you're doing.

Fashion Gxd Magazine :If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?

Answer: Nothing. The Most High makes no mistakes....everything happened the way it did for me to be me. I love who I am...I wouldn't change a thing.

Fashion Gxd Magazine :What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur ?

Answer:Hustle and Grind- YOU have to know how to make things happen. Entrepreneurship isn't like a 9-5 where the blueprint is laid out for you daily. You have to think about how to get customers and from where. You have to keep your ball rolling.

Tough Skin and Intuition- Sometimes you're going to have negative things about your business or even you- you have to know how to say....OK, what else and still feel like you the ish......it takes confidence to run a business. Especially a sneaker brand. You have to have intuition to know when something right for you and your business and when its not.

Fashion Gxd Magazine :What have been some of your failures, and what have you learned from them?

Answer: I never failed only learned lessons and got feedback to do better.I learned to always keep The Most High first and stay in tune with him- and as long as you're in tune with him your intuition is his will and his will is perfect. Now dont get perfect confused with what FEELS good and look GOOD to you.....it means it works out RIGHTEOUSLY.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : How many hours do you work a day on average?

Answer:Laughs hard. All day LITERALLY. I'm always on my phone whether its returning emails, approving something, placing orders, dealing with customers. Working on social media. Scouting talent or searching for inspiration. Designing or Creating.Always

Fashion Gxd Magazine :Describe/outline your typical day?

Answer: I start my day with the Lords Prayer and then checking my phone. I'm checking emails, responding. Checking social media responding. I'm checking analytics and data for everything that's live. I'm creating content for social media. Im scheduling it to post. I try to spend a few hrs engaging on social media. Right now I'm taking training to enhance my knowledge so I'm doing that. Usually that's my full morning before I eat, before I even get out the bed.

I of course tend to myself and my household and the rest of my day is whatever happens....whether its fulfilling and getting orders out.

Talking with vendors and my team.

Working on collaborations if any or looking for them.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?

Answer: It hasn't.

Fashion Gxd Magazine :What motivates you?

Creating a product that people love, and inspiring others.
