FGM: Its an honor to sit down with you all. Tell us a little about your brand and how you've come to this vastly successful peek in your career .

Answer:  My brand is called Crochet with Passion. I started my business 5 years ago and I’ve been crocheting for 12 years. Recently my business has grown so much and has grabbed the attention of many people. This peek in my business has come from being consistent in creating new ideas and interacting with people in person. I love doing small business markets and that’s where I have the opportunity to meet a lot of new people that support my handmade clothing and accessories. It’s such a great feeling to be able to engage with people and bond over a beautiful art such as crochet.

FGM: Who are the clients/what are the projects that you most enjoy working on?

Answer: My audience is primarily women ages 18 to 45 years old. My customers typically gravitate towards my crochet earrings, velvet scrunchies, and handmade lip oil. I truly enjoy making these and more accessories such as purses, hats, tops, and book covers.

FGM: How do you feel you make a difference in the world?

Answer: I believe I’m making a difference in the world by starting locally and continuing to support many other entrepreneurs in my city. I enjoy supporting and uplifting other small businesses. We’re all in this together. In doing that, this year I started hosting and planning a monthly Black-Owned Business market on my college campus. The market promotes Black excellence and entrepreneurship locally. I’m most proud of this event and I will continue to showcase the beautiful talents in my very own community. It is important to see how hard small business owners work and allow others to recognize that dedication.

FGM: Tell us about a time when you showed determination to continue as an entrepreneur

Answer: I am currently a college student in my last year and one thing I continued to do all throughout my time in college was to continue managing my business. It wasn’t always easy but it has taught me more determination and time management. As a result, I have been able to work towards my degree in Sociology and American Sign Language to become a sign language interpreter as well as run Crochet with Passion LLC.

FGM: Give me the three best qualities of your brand

Answer: Crochet with Passion’s best qualities are great customer service online and in-person, continuing to engage with everyone who supports her, and always supporting other small brands.

FGM: Give me an example of when you worked irregular hours?

Answer: I have stayed up until 6am preparing for a market. It was worth it and rewarding during the market knowing that I put in that much hard work despite the lack of sleep that day. I would do it all over again because I love what I do.

FGM: Being a entrepreneur  is a 24/7 job, how did you get ready for that?

Answer: Although this is one of my jobs, when I crochet it doesn’t feel like a job because I am doing something I love without many limitations and on my own time. However, the way I prepared myself was by setting aside time to work on my business and crochet throughout the week.

FGM: How did you acquire the ability to work under pressure to beat meet deadlines as a entrepreneur ?

Answer: Working under pressure is very tough and still something I have been working on. However, one thing that I do is set the deadline in my calendar at an earlier date so it will make me finish the project before the actual deadline.

FGM: What is your favorite inspirational point, place, to develop new brand developments?

Answer: My favorite place to develop new brand developments is outside sitting on the grass on my school campus. I do a lot of brainstorming when I’m outside with nature. It is also my favorite place to crochet.

How do you handle stress ?

Answer: I handle stress by crocheting and listening to handpan music online. It calms me and allows me to step away from the world to relax.

FGM: What are the three qualities you  feel an entrepreneur must have ?

Answer: Dedication, creativity, and passion.

FGM:  Where do you see your business in 10 years? How do you plan to get there ?

Answer: Crochet with Passion will be a physical store location within the next 10 years. I will get there by continuing to build my audience on social media worldwide and creating new and fun clothing and accessories.

FGM: It was a pleasure speaking with you thank you for joining us

Answer: Thank you for having me and allowing me to have this opportunity!
