Fashion Gxd Magazine : How did the idea for your business come about?

Shatirah Rolle : Born into a musical family, I couldn’t avoid being exposed to an eclectic array of musical styles. I started learning the violin at 5 by 6 I discovered Aretha Franklin and the song “Respect”. My voice from there emerged when I sang and performed that song, I was hooked! Singing became a passion and next followed the melodic style of Whitney Houston. With the guidance of my mother, Portia, I began writing and recording.

Fashion Gxd Magazine : How do you find people to bring into your organization that truly care about the organization the way you do?

Shatirah RolleBefore I allow people into my inner circle, I have to make sure that they are not toxic to their own life, this is the first step. If a person is surrounded by chaos they will bring that into your life. The next step is to make sure they are striving, in a positive way, for creative success and is willing to share their insights. If they pass these two steps we can begin to collaborate and work together.

·   Fashion Gxd Magazine : What three pieces of advice would you give to college students who want to become entrepreneurs hard at it.

Shatirah Rolle: I would definitely have to say: Number 1: To strive and work towards your dreams just as badly as you want to breath. Number 2: Your Success is up to you. Number 3: Live and breathe your career and never underestimate your will power.

·  Fashion Gxd Magazine :If you had the chance to start your career over again, what would you do differently?.

Shatirah Rolle: I believe everything in our life flows the way GOD intends. I wouldn’t change a thing. Why? Because every mistake, every closure in my life opened up new opportunities, this taught me diligence and lifelong lessons. Any Change would still teach me or help me grow as my own individual

·  Fashion Gxd Magazine :What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?

·Shatirah Rolle: TOP 3 would be Optimism, Hard work And Diligence

·  Fashion Gxd Magazine :What have been some of your failures, and what have you learned from them?

Shatirah Rolle:  My biggest failure in the past has been not being as vocal about my opinions and being extremely too nice. I would let peers take my kindness for weakness. As I’ve gotten older I’ve realized that it’s always important as a professional to be on my toes about letting people take advantage of me. This of course doesn’t mean I’m this mean person now. I’m just making my opinions heard

·  Fashion Gxd Magazine : How many hours do you work a day on average?

Shatirah Rolle : When I’m not performing or rehearsing for a show, I practice at least 6 hours a day

·  Fashion Gxd Magazine :Describe/outline your typical day?

Shatirah RolleTypical day for me is getting up at 7am to prepare and eat breakfast with my family. Next I get my son ready for school. Once I drop my son to school, my day is filled with practice and prepping for auditions

·  Fashion Gxd Magazine : How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life?

·Shatirah RolleMy family is very support so there is no issue there. I make sure I attend all my son’s school events, which can be very exhaustive. Finding the time to cover all of his activities and keeping up with my auditions is a skill I’ve learned to master.

·  Fashion Gxd Magazine :What motivates you?

Shatirah Rolle: I’m always about my family. My son is my biggest motivator. He is who helps me pull through each and every day. Also I motivate myself, you have to be your own cheerleader sometimes.

·

Fashion Gxd Magazine: How do you generate new ideas?

·Shatirah Rolle: I’m from the old school when it comes to preparing myself for playing a character on stage or screen. I need to know the background of the character and spend some time in the same or similar setting that influenced the life of the character. So if the character worked in a certain type of Night Club, I would visit that place, if they grew-up a small town I would visit that location to get a feel of the people the character would be interacting with on a day to day basis.

·

Fashion Gxd Magazine : What sacrifices have you had to make to be a successful entrepreneur?

Shatirah Rolle: The biggest sacrifice in my career is not being able to maintain close ties to my extended family (uncles, aunts, cousins, etc.). With my busy schedule and making sure I spend time with my son and partner it leaves little time to participate in extended family events.

·

Fashion Gxd Magazine : Where you see yourself and your business in 10 years? 20 years?

·Shatirah Rolle: In 10 years I see myself managing a very diverse career portfolio, that includes playing eclectic leading characters who excite and move audiences emotionally, recording musical sound tracks and touring with my band. In 20 years I would also want to add to this portfolio, Producing and Directing movies
