“Knowledge goes a long way when you share it!”- Shaquin Thomas

FGM: It’s an honor to sit down with you Shaquin. Tell us a little about your brand Frugally Fancy Fashion and how you’ve come to this vastly successful peek in your career.

Shaquin: Growing up I used to detest thrift stores and yard sales. About 15 years ago, I was going out immediately after work and I didn’t have time to go home first. I dropped by a Goodwill and found a brand new Charlotte Russe (I’m showing my age I know lol) dress with the price tags still on it. I was in shock and I was hooked instantly. Thrifting became an addiction and I started venturing out and acquiring high end items such as Gucci, Jimmy Choo, and more. I started a small blog and posted on social media. I was featured on an Atlanta fashion blog. From there, I have a following and even became a personal shopper for clients due to my sense of style and being able to put together an outfit for mere dollars.

FGM: How do you feel you make a difference in the world?

Shaquin: I try make a difference in the world on a daily basis by being kind to others, constantly giving back, and volunteering my time and services for great causes. Often times I prepare food and personally serve first responders, police officers, veterans, and others in need. Additionally, I clean my closet out sporadically and give my clothes and shoes to battered women and kids in dire need.

FGM: Give me the three best qualities of your brand.

Shaquin: The best qualities for my brand are consistency, quality, and exceptional customer service.

FGM: What does fashion mean to you?

Shaquin: To me, fashion is a way to say who you are without having to utter a word.

FGM: How would you describe your sense of style?

Shaquin: I have always been a fan of animal print; leopard print to be exact. My style is simply- if I like it, I buy it and wear it with confidence.

FGM: What fashion tips would you have for our readers heading into 2023?

Shaquin: Fashion trends are always going and coming so it’s safe to always keep staples in your closet that are classic and never go out of style. Items like a little black dress, white button down shirt, trench coat, black heels, and more.

FGM: Who in the fashion industry are you inspired by and why?

Shaquin: I love the singer Monica’s fashion sense. She isn’t necessarily a traditional runway model but I love her confidence and her unique style.

FGM: What is your favorite fashion season and what has been your favorite look from that particular time?

Shaquin: I have become a fan of fall because I love dusters and cardigans! You can pair them with jeans, leggings, a dress, or the forever resurfacing Dazzey Duks!

FGM: What have you learned about yourself in 2022?

Shaquin: I have learned that when I fast from various foods and/or other items like social media or technology, I’m more focused and my creativity soars. Everyone is different but for me, it is amazing.

FGM: What else would you like our readers to know about you?

Shaquin: Please be sure to follow my expeditions on Instagram @frugallyfancyfashion and Southern, Savvy, and Saving on Facebook for the hottest deals and my fashion finds.

FGM: Any shoutouts you would like to give to those who have been on this business journey with you?

Shaquin: Amanda Bae from the Painted Nest is my biggest fashion fan! She loves a great thrift store as well and is just as excited as I am when I create a look for little to nothing!

FGM: It was a pleasure speaking with you thank you for joining us.

Shaquin: It has truly been a pleasure and I am honored that I was able to speak with you and share my fashion sense!
