Fashion Gxd Magazine - KENNY KAS × FUBU: TWO FASHION LEGACIES COME TOGETHER FOR AN EXCLUSIVE BLACK FRIDAY RELEASE
Written by: EJ
After more than 36 years in fashion, Kenny “Kas” Flanagan is still finding new ways to make his mark. The celebrity fashion designer and stylist has built a career that stretches across high end fashion, streetwear, entertainment, television, film and international runways. Yet what makes this chapter of his career particularly interesting is that Kas is not simply looking back at what he has accomplished. He is still designing, styling, collaborating and creating new moments. His latest is the Kenny Kas × FUBU Limited Edition Racing Jacket, an exclusive collaboration bringing together Kas and one of the most recognizable names in urban fashion.
The partnership was first introduced at the Power Player Suite in New York City, where FUBU founders Keith Perrin and J. Alexander Martin joined Kas for an exclusive preview of the jacket. Guests also got a look at pieces from Kas’s W.E.T. (With Exceptional Taste) Collection, giving the evening a glimpse into both his history and where his creativity is headed next. Now the racing jacket is preparing for its official Black Friday 2026 release, with only 50 pieces being produced.
The exclusivity feels fitting for a designer whose career has often centered around creating distinctive pieces rather than simply following what everyone else is doing. Over the years, Kas has designed and styled an impressive list of entertainers and cultural figures, including Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Snoop Dogg, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Ashanti, Nelly, Sherri Shepherd, Anthony Hamilton, Toni Braxton, Kevin Hart, CeCe Winans and many others. And that celebrity connection continues today.
Kas recently completed a magazine cover shoot with actor Taye Diggs, handling the celebrity styling and design for the upcoming feature. It is another example of his ability to move comfortably between fashion, entertainment and editorial work. He also recently reunited creatively with Ashanti, designing her look for a Halloween event in Las Vegas. Kas attended the event as well, adding another current moment to a professional relationship that has continued through different stages of their careers.
These projects tell an important part of the Kenny Kas story. His longevity is not simply about having been in the industry for more than three decades. It is about remaining active and relevant while fashion continually changes around him. Kas has experienced milestones that many designers spend their entire careers pursuing. His work has reached major retail spaces, international fashion platforms and some of entertainment’s biggest names. He has presented collections in fashion markets around the world and built a recognizable design identity that moves between luxury, couture and street inspired fashion.
His W.E.T. Collection, which stands for With Exceptional Taste, reflects that range. The collection incorporates high end suits and dresses, denim looks, leather styles and streetwear, with a unisex approach that allows Kas to continue experimenting rather than being confined to one category. In September, that vision was showcased at the Black Sea 3.0 Fashion & Culture Event NYC, where Kas appeared as a featured designer and presented selections from W.E.T.
His accomplishments were also celebrated at the Power Player Suite, where he received the Fashion Icon Award, recognizing his longevity, creativity and contributions to fashion. But perhaps the most compelling thing about Kas at this point in his career is that an award does not signal the end of the story. There is another shoot to style. Another collection to develop. Another celebrity to dress. Another collaboration waiting to happen.
The FUBU partnership represents that continuing evolution. Both Kenny Kas and FUBU emerged from an era when fashion, music, entrepreneurship and culture were becoming increasingly intertwined. Each built an identity that went beyond clothing. Bringing those histories together decades later creates something that speaks to longtime supporters while introducing the collaboration to another generation of fashion consumers.
And with only 50 Kenny Kas × FUBU Racing Jackets being produced for Black Friday, the release was never designed to be something everyone would have. It was designed to be something people would remember. For Kenny Kas, that may also be the best way to describe a career that is still being written more than 36 years after it began. Still creating. Still evolving. And still making his mark. TheKennyKas.com
