Fashion Gxd Magazine: How did you get started in the fashion industry?
Maggie Five Chambers: I got started in the fashion industry by interning for various fashion companies. I eventually was hired as an Assistant designer for a high-end womenswear company, and then a year and a half later, Five Chambers was born.
FGM: Who is your biggest inspiration?
MFC: My biggest inspiration is not just person, but many of the people around me. I see a lot of people with little hope for the future. They want to live their dreams, but are held back because of fear. These are the people who inspire me the most to propel forward, because I want them to truly know that anything is possible for anyone no matter what your past looks like. Your past does not have to dictate your future. The young girl who dreams of becoming a famous dancer, but her parents tell her dancing isn’t a “real career,” I do this for her. The high school and college students who want to be successful entrepreneurs, but don’t know where to start, I do this for them. The mother who thinks it’s too late to pursue her dreams, I do this for her. These are the people who inspire me the most.
FGM: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
MFC: In 5 years, I see myself continuing to live out what I believe to be my purpose on a much broader scale, and through a variety of different mediums. My life’s mission is to inspire people to follow their dreams by showing them the unlimited possibilities of what can happen when you step out on faith, and to help people to step into their greatness by first allowing them to see a bigger and better version of themselves. Everything that I do, from my fashion company to the new initiatives that I have planned within the next few years, is created with that mission in mind.
FGM: Have you had any formal training in your field
MFC I have a Bachelor or Arts degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising. I have worked alongside couture designer, Christine Kendall, in London, England, and I was the Assistant Designer for Kymerah in New York City before launching my men’s fashion company.
FG: Who would you like to work with next?
MFC: I have a wide variety of people I would love to work with from music artists, such as, Justin Timberlake, Miguel, Bruno Mars, and Asap Rocky, to actors and athletes, such as, Leonardo DiCaprio, Channing Tatum, Lebron James, Russell Westbrook, and Kevin Durant. I even have female celebrities that I would love to design custom work for, such as, Lady gaga, Nicki Minaj, and Iggy Azalea. These are only a few of the many people that I want to work with next.
FG: How did you meet Pilar Scratch?
MFC: This is actually a funny story. My friend tagged me in a post that Pilar had on Instagram. It caught my interest, so I emailed her to find out more information, and the rest is history as they say it!
FG: What is the purpose of your company or talent?
MFC: The purpose of Five Chambers is to spread a positive vision for the future by inspiring you to celebrate your individuality. Our high quality products are specifically made to make you feel good about yourself and bring out your individualism. When you feel good about yourself, you raise your self-perception. When you raise your self-perception, you start to define yourself. When you define yourself, you want to find your purpose. When you find your purpose, you want to live your purpose. When you live your purpose, you've mastered life. By just wearing a Five Chambers garment, you will begin your
journey to feeling like the great champion that you are, on the path to mastering life.
FG: What message are you trying to influence with your work
MFC: My message is simple. Follow your dreams and find your purpose, and let absolutely nothing stop you.
FG: What celebrities have you worked with?
MFC: We have worked with Dominick Adams from the show Devious Maids, Neo-soul music artist, Bilal, Emmy award winning violinist, Damien Escobar, and a lot more in progress.
FG: How was it working with Musiq Soulchild as known as the Hustle
MFC: Working with The Husel was awesome! I was super excited when I found out that I would be working with him, because I’m actually a big fan of his music. He’s a very talented artist, and super cool. I look forward to working with him again in the future.
FG: what's makes you a fashion gxd
MFC: What makes me a fashion Gxd is my ability to think big, inspire people, and change the world through fashion. I was given a huge vision when I was a little girl, and I made a decision from that day forward to turn that vision into my reality. I am somebody, and so are you!
